Am kind of ready to go home, but feel one of bad leaving my family. And I kind of hate it when I have to blog like this just to get something in before midnight during NaNoWriMo, but I guess sometimes life's going to yet in the way of stuff.

Day 03 - The best book you've read in the last 12 months
I went to my bookshelf to look, and I feel like I haven't read many books for the first time in the last year. I think among the ones I've enjoyed the most are Lessons in Letting Go by Corinne Grant, Almost French by Sarah Turnbull, but I think my favourite goes to Fall Girl by Toni Jordan. I bought it when I went to Melbourne in Feburary this year, and I really loved the first book she wrote, and didn't realise she'd written a second so I bought it...and then it sat in my 'to read' pile for about six months. Then I read it, and it was one of those books that you don't get very often that you start and you really don't want to put down. It was basically the story of a family who'd been bought up as con-people, and that's how they'd always lived their lives, and the main characters falling in love with the person she was meant to be conning out of his money. Not the sort of thing I usually read, but it was very good.
Day 03 - Your favorite television program/Day 04 - Your favorite show ever (I'm switching day 3 & 4 around for my TV shows, as it's esentially the same question for both of them.
My all time favourite TV show is Friends. I started watching it when the second season was airing here (I think I was eleven at that point), and I just woke up one day (I beleive it was 27/12/97, if I'm being specific) and I'd decided overnight that I loved it - after that for years I taped every episode, I re-watched episodes every weekend, I cut out all of the magazine articles I could find and made collages and put posters on my walls (thank you very much, TV Hits :)). I had my wall covered with that instead of all the other girls my age who had Spice Girls and Leonardo DiCaprio posters. Obviously, I don't like hte show to quite that extreme anymore, but I do still have the DVDs, it's the only show I don't feel like it takes effort to watch and get into, and I still laugh at episodes I've watched so many times, and I think it's always going to hold a place in my heart.
I was 15 and living at home in Barmera. It was a student free the day the next day at school, so me and my brother were up later than usual (being in Australia, the day really started for us late in the night), and I was on the computer on Neopets, and I read on the message boards (back in the day where you could take about anything) that the twin towers were on fire, but they didn't really know any more than that. I remember looking up what the twin towers actually were becuase I thought I'd heard of them before, but didn't really know anything beyond that, and when it happened there was little-to-nothing about them on the internet. I mentioned it to my mum and brother, who were in the lounge room, but don't think they had any interest in it. After that it slowly began filtering through on the TV, first with scrolling text at the bottom of the screen, and by the time I went to bed about an hour later, coverage was on.
The following day was the day when it all really hit everyone in Australia. The news was full of coverage for the entire day - Aron came over at one point in the day (it was his birthday) and we watched the coverage on TV. That night I had a bit of a stress in that 'I can't beleive this has happened. What sort of world do we live in', and I felt terrible for thinking it, because I knew there were so, so many people in the world that had more problems than me at that time, and I felt so bad that I was there halfway across the world feeling so scared when I was so far away from what happened.
This isn't something I normally do (writers blocks), and I don't think I've mentioned the last part to anyone before, but I feel like I guess today's as good as any to mention it.
- It's been such a great start, weather wise, to spring. I'm trying to make the most of the weather for the time being before it potentially turns bad again. I stayed in town after work on Thursday after work on Thursday and had dinner down the Torrens river, I walked from Henley Beach to Grange Beach after work on Friday, I did my normal walk through the city to sewing yesterday, and I'm hanging out outside now, and might go for a walk later to the grocery store, or to the pet shop.
- My parents are coming up to Adelaide for Christmas, which will be kind of good. I think I'll like the fact that I can still stay at my own place for that weekend. They're staying in the city, and I'm trying to convince them that we should do a picnic lunch instead of going out to a restaurant. Seeing as no one else in my family tends to think of alternate ideas, I think I might be able to convince them.
- Fremantle aren't going to the finals this year :( So my football supporting is over for the season.
- I've decided that I'd like to go out for brunch the weekend after my birthday this year. The last time I did anything including other people for my birthday was when I was 19, I think, so I'm kinda looking forward to it. This is a few months away, though :p
- I think I might have found the dress I want to wear for my bridesmaid dress for Rosie's wedding. I saw it at Miss Gladys Sym Choon, but I didn't try it on, so I'm a bit worried about that. I might go there tomorrow after work to have another look and try it on.

- I think I need to steal catalogues from someones letter box in the next week or two seeing as we never get them. Then I can play one of my favourite games in the world: look at all the models in the catalogue and imagine my dad doing the same thing they're under the impression fathers spend their lives doing.
- I got an email the other day at work saying that I have a rostered day off on Wednesday. Looking forward to spending my day off at home, seeing as I've been in Melbourne/Barmera for my last ones.
- Mark thinks he wants to buy a pug dog. He's been really excited about this for a week or two now, so I'm not sure if he's actually going to keep interest in this to actually end up getting one. I've just told him that as long as he feels he can afford to feed it, and is going to spend time with it I'm okay with it. I really don't know how Perry will react to a dog. I don't think she's ever seen one up close. At least Pugs are meant to be friendly and small, I think that's the most she'd be able to handle.
- Yesterday I decided I wanted to cook tie dyed cheesecake, and I ended up spending a good couple of hours in the kitchen making that and biscuits while I was waiting for it to cook. I haven't tried it yet, though, because you're meant to leave it to chill for a day before you eat it.
- I paid for all of my flights on Thursday night, so I think that means my trip is a lot more official. Booking stuff is next :)
- Today's been the first sign of kind of nice weather in a while, so I've decided to brave it and leave the house with just a summer dress and no tights. I did bring a cardigan just in case though :)

- I finished buying Trev's birthday and Father's day stuff yesterday, and I'm hoping I have enough for both of them now - so annoying having them both in the same week. I haven't figured out what presents are for which occasion, but I think I'll just go through them with my mum on the weekend and she can help me decide.
- I keep poking and prodding with my schedule for going away, and shuffling in random stops on the way. I'm heaps excited about the train leg of my trip. I've decided that instead of going from Washington to New York, I'm going to go to from Washington to Harrisburg on the train, because there's a theatre company putting Joseph on that matches with my dates, and then I'll go to New York the day after that. I also think I'm dropping my flight from New York to Toronto and taking the train up there too - I want to stop in Buffalo for a night, because if I can do that I can go to Lancaster and see And Then There Were None, which there's a company doing there, which I've wanted to see again for ages. I'll just get the train to Toronto the day after that, which will mean I'll only get one full day there, but I keep thinking what's the point of going away if I'm not going to lots of places, and they're both shows that I really love, I might as well make the most of my opportunities if they come up. I also want to go to a town called Marshall, which is about an hour up the coast from San Francisco, for a night, but I'm not sure how the transport up there will be, because I think it's a pretty small place - I'll have to see if there's a bus service up there, I think. It looks like a pretty town.
- I've also decided that I want to try to watch as many Disney and Pixar movies that I can manage (but maybe not the ones that sound really boring, or the ones that will make me want to shoot myself in the head (for example, god damn Alice in Wonderland). I did three over the weekend, so I figure that's off to a good start. I'm sure I can manage to do another, like, 30, in six months. They all tend to be hour and a half movies, which is manageable for me - my concentration span isn't great.
- I'm kind of thinking about going to Barmera on Wednesday instead of Thursday. Just purely for the fact that going to work for two days this week seems like it would be a lot easier than going to work for three days. And it's not like I don't have the sick leave up my sleeve to use if I want to.
Oh, yay, LJ put my post up :D Very excited at signs of life :)

- I booked all of my Melbourne stuff last night. I was going to pick somewhere else to stay, but I couldn't find anywhere else that I thought sounded really good that was in a convenient location (I prefer to stay on a main street in Melbourne, seeing as I'm going out at night to the theatre and I'm alone), so I'm staying at good old City Square :) I booked my ticket for Mary Poppins for Sunday afternoon (I didn't get that greater seat, but that was the only show that worked out with my times, and I've booked a ticket for a play called 'Don Parties On' for Friday night, which is about a man who holds an election party which is actually a sequel form a play the writer did, like, 40 years ago. The original one had a movie made of it, so I'd like to watch that before I see the play. Oh, and the ticket for that was only $30. It looks like the MTC has youth tickets (in which they consider youth to be 29 or younger) for pretty much every play they have on, so that was very good :) I was also very happy to realise last night that I'd have two more pay days before I went to Melbourne, and not one, which I was thinking all through the day.
- I still need to book a show to see this month (because I would still like to see something very much) I think it's going to end up being 'Home is Where Your Clothes Are' possibly on Saturday afternoon, but I'd like to see is Mark/Kahn want to see it as well.
- I'm trying to decide if I want to go to Gerringong with my parents for a week when they go in March. Usually I'm really into the idea, and I can't put my finger on why I'm so indecisive about if I want to go or not. I feel like I should spend time with my family though, and I had lots of fun last year when I was there with my parents and Jen's sisters. It always winds up being a cheap trip, anyway. We never really go out much when we're there, so I guess it will only really be the plane ticket there and back. I'll wait to see when Jen says she's got time off, and talk to my team leader about taking a leave day.
- I'm very impressed that the first lot of clothes I had on ebay have actually sold. Someone had bid $10 on my lot of 4 dresses, but they last night someone 3else outbid them and I got $15 for them, which is more than i was expecting. I think All I'm hoping for each is just what I've initially put them up for, honestly. But it's nice to know that people actually want my stuff.
- Oh, and it's starting to drive me crazy that so much of my stuff is too big now. I don't have much left to wear, but I don't really want to try to buy too much because I'm only going to have to hopefully get rid of that as well in not too long. Looking in my wardrobe now is so depressing.
- Mark was talking the other day about how when you hear a Hi-5 song you can still hear what would have come next in your head, and this morning a song came on my ipod and I remembered what Mark was saying and tried to remember what song would have been next on the CD, and I remembered it, and then it was the next song that started playing. I thought that was very funny.
- I've started drinking Chai tea. I was at the supermarket last week looking at the different sorts of tea, and thought I should try something new, and cinnamon sounded like a good idea so I bought some. It's not too bad. It kind of makes me want to try other sorts of tea now. Maybe peppermint or lemon.
- I'm very excited that there should hopefully be new JubJub Powerbounce tokens and prizes out tonight. I like the element of surprise :)
- Not sure how impressed I am with the fact that Fremantle are changing their colours and dropping the red & green from their uniform. I don't hate the purple & white jumper as much as I wish I did, but what's the point of goin around not looking like Christmas threw up on you :) And I also do not support the fact they might be changing the team song. I like the fact that they have possibly the dumbest team song in the leauge. It makes them unique :p
- I've finally been screwed by the rosters. In the new cycle I have two weeks in a row of 11 - 7:30 shifts :( Which is the biggest bitch of a shift for getting home, because I can't even get a bus into the city till quarter past 8. But I knew it would happen one day, and I had a nice nine months of pretty much the same shift, so I'll survive, I guess.
- I think I'm going to try catch up on TV shows over the long weekend. There are a few shows that I started watching, but never got to the end of the season that I'm going to try to get on top of, like Wilfred and Hot in Cleveland, and I need to catch up with The Big C as well.
- I'm starting to get close to breaking my no spoilers that I'm trying to do for Project Runway this season. I've been good so far, but I'm getting to the point that I'm sick of waiting the whole day to be able to watch it.
- I wish Mark would volunteer to buy dinner and make it. All this week it's been me who's ended up going to the supermarket and cooking for him. I'm going to be a bit mad if the dishes aren't at least done when I get home.

- KFC has Mashies back as their promotion :) I said way back in November that I had them and liked them, but they got rid of them before I had a chance to have them again, so now I'm making the most of them being back. And they are as good as I thought they were, so that is very good.
- Fremantle won on Saturday, so that means they get to play at home next week for the first week of the finals, which is good for them. They're playing Hawthorn, and I honestly don't have any gut feeling either way or how well they're going to go. I'm a bit bummed that they're playing on Saturday afternoon, because I won't be able to watch the game, because I'll have sewing.
- I'm still loving this season of Project Runway so much at the moment. This week's episode was so awesome with the judging, and seeing everyone turn into Gretchen's followers, and I love Tim Gunn even more than before for calling everyone out after the judging. I'm really confused with the judging, and what's getting eliminated, and what's winning, because none of them I'm picking at all. And oh my god, I really need them to get rid of Cassanova, he is still driving me crazy, and he looks like a monkey. And Mondo very much needs some more love and screen time there :)
- My Techo pimp finally sapped something which wasn't a Green Techo, which is what it's been for about a month. It turned into a Desert Techo, which I thought might make it easy to try to start trading, but I don't think there's much of a market for Techos, so I still might be stuck with it for a while.
- I got an email today saying that the session of 'Our Town' that I was going to see in NY on the day I'm arriving there has been cancelled, which is a bit sad, because that was the closing performance of it, and I'm not going to be there in time to see the matinee.
- I have so much that I have to do over the weekend, like copying all my travel docs, and all of my normal things like washing and cleaning the house, and I have to somehow fit in seeing my family as well. I think my plan for the moment is see my parents tomorrow night, because my mum said they're coming up tomorrow, and wanted me to come with her and my dad and one of his brothers to the casino, so I think I'll have to do that tomorrow, and come home for the night, and try to get everything else out of the way on Saturday morning, and then go and see my family again on Saturday night. Too much to fill in!
- I have no idea how it's gotten to the point that Mark and Kahn are going to be back in a week. This month has gone so fast, which I guess is pretty good, seeing as I thought it would drag out a bit, waiting for my trip to come up. But no, it's only 10 days until I leave now, which is a little bit scary.
- I think my work team's planning on going out for dinner on Thursday night. I had a couple of emails in my inbox from yesterday which looked like they'd started to plan something, but no one said anything about it today, so I'm not sure if that's actually happening or not.
- I finished my tartan dress yesterday and wore it to work for the first time, and two people actually commented on it, which was really nice. I'm not sure if that means that it was okay, or if it just looked like I was wearing something that looked very hand-made, but I'm hoping for the first option.
- I had to buy a new computer mouse today, because the cord broke on my old one, so I got the same type as I had before, because it was pretty good for $10, but they had pink ones this time, so it's by far more superior than the blue one I had before.
- I so need to buy a 'Go Human Beings' top from the NBC store in NY :)
- So far I'm very much liking Mark being gone, I think just for the fact that I feel like I can spread out in the house a bit more and watch more TV in the lounge room, and talk to myself aloud more, because there's not anyone else there to judge me besides Perry. I'm still getting used to the feeling the house seeming so empty, though - every time I heard the door rattling last night in the wind I was a bit 'someone's going to break in and I'm going to be all alone. I'm sure I'll get used to that though.
- I want to try to make an effort to do a bit of sewing every day while Mark's away - again, that's another thing I have to do in the lounge room, seeing as that's where my machine's set up. I really like the fact that I've been so extra-pro sewing lately, and that I have fabric and patterns already to start on another couple of projects right away. I've only got to re-do the sleeves on my top (I unpicked the gathered ones, and I'm just going to cut a bit off the shoulders as a last attempt, which I think hope work okay, and after that I want to get started on a brown tartan dress that I want to make that I can wear to work, and I want to play around with working out how to do the pleats on the blue dress I'm making as well and cut out the sleeves before my next sewing class.
- I'm also kind of thinking about doing a pattern-making course, so get a bit of an idea of how that all works. I asked Sue about it on Saturday, and she said that WEA do courses for dressmaking, and they have a three lesson class in November that's about $70ish to do, and after that there's a more advanced one I'd be able to do, so I think I'll give that a go. I think that would be so cool to make something that I actually designed as well as made.
- This morning I was leaving for work and it was raining, and I was wearing my pants today, and I didn't want to get the hems wet, and I was very ingenious and just pinned up a temporary hem for when I was walking to the bus stop, which worked very well. Lyn drove past when I was waiting for the bus, so I get a lift for the rest of the way to work, which was nice on a rainy day.
- It ended up being really quiet at work yesterday so they cancelled the overtime for last night and tonight, which is kind of nice - you can't feel guilty about not doing overtime and leaving early if there isn't any for you to do :p
- I finally booked my tickets for Promises Promises and Behind the Emerald Curtain for when I'm in New York. I was going to buy a cheaper ticket for Promises, but then I came to my senses and got a closer one. The fact I'm seeing that kind of makes me want to start watching Will and Grace episodes again :)
- I wish that one of the TV shows I watch was starting while I'm still in the US. Literally EVERYTHING all of the shows that have a 10-11 season run are starting the week that I get back, so I'll have just missed them. I think the only thing that will be running for the first episode while I'm there is Project Runway. But I guess that's better than nothing.
- I'm kind of paranoid that I'm going to get sick this month. I'm pretty sure the only reason I think this is because I was sick last August when Mark was away, and I think exactly the same things are going to happen again.
- I'm very happy with the new Wheel of Excitement at the moment - I've got two Morphing Potions from it in the last three days, which is good :) I want to see what sort of things are going to be on the new Wheel of Monotony - there used to be a couple a paint brushes on there, but I never won either from the old wheel, but I'm hoping the new WOM is a bit more lax as well :)
- I've realised that it's probably going to be a sensible idea for me to buy some proper shoes that I can walk in, because I assume that I'll probably be doing a lot of that while I'm away. There are a couple of pairs of Kustoms shoes (that’s the only brand of proper shoes that I actually like) on their website, that look like sensible shoes to walk in, that also look like they'll be okay to wear with a skirt/dress, so I'm hoping I'll be able to find one of the styles that I like in the city next time I go into town.
- Is it wrong that I'm really excited about the fact that I've planned for my dinner tonight to be mushroom soup and bacon, because that's what I already have in the house, and I don't really want to go to the shops?
